Demonstrations in Sudan

12 April 2019, Sudan, Khartoum: Sudanese demonstrators shout slogans as they gather outside the Defence Ministry in a sit-in protest to demand the formation of a civilian government, a day after the military took power and arrested long-time President Omar al-Bashir.
According to a state-run radio, Sudan’s defence minister Awad Ibn Auf, who took power from al-Bashir on Thursday, has been sworn in as president of the military transitional council, while the army’s chief of general staff, Kamal Abdel-Marouf, was sworn in as vice president of the council, which the military announced would operate for a two-year transitional period.
